Who We Are
The creek keepers were organized to identify and respond to environmental conditions impacting the water quality of Menantic Creek and the Peconic Estuary, and inform people of the effect of diminished water quality on the ecosystem.
We have three water quality monitoring station up and running from Spring through Fall. We report the data to interested parties, including the Town of Shelter Island. We also formed a subcommittee of the Town Water Quality Committee. In partnership with the Stony Brook Southampton Center for Marine Conservation Science, we have established plans for further water quality monitoring and continue to explore additional ways to monitor the quality of our water.
